What’s the Biden Administration doing (a) to aid the 15 to 43 percent of children emotionally traumatized within the US, (b) to assist the 3 million people who are food deficient and have to ask the teacher for food, and (c) to equip schools with the necessary tools for teaching children to read and write?

The reason is that as consequence of the decision of Citizens United in 2010 which allowed for unlimited spending in elections, government decisions are influenced by campaign contributions that are legalized bribery.

Children don’t vote, so they’re not able compete with corporate interests in halls of power, which are filled with lobbyists’ cash.

The people who control the government have no knowledge of the educational system.
For example, the present Democratic candidate in the governor’s seat in Virginia, Terry McAuliffe recently stated that parents don’t hold the right to dictate what should be on school curricula.

The Governor was , arguably in political motives, pandering in the direction of the Teachers Union and the School Boards.

However, if the person who would like to manage the state government does not be aware that the public schools are the responsibility of the taxpayers who pay for them What is his chance to be trusted to change the system?

The public may contribute money to fund the public schools but half of the funds come from property taxes which generate significant funding disparities between communities that are wealthy and those who are poor. A more equitable approach would be to make use of state taxes for funding similar to Indiana as well as Michigan.

Young people are society’s most valuable treasure. However, society is failing the children. Children who have been traumatized are unable to learn and are more susceptible to violence. Children who aren’t fed can’t learn to read and write, and tend to be in prison institution, not a school of higher learning.

The failings of the educational system are not only stifling the opportunities of our best and brightest, but it is also causing a decline in the world rankings especially in the realms of science and mathematics.

In the Constitution, when the government is not doing its job it is the right of the citizens to intervene and to do the right thing..

In the first place, we require a Constitutional Amendment to reverse Citizens United and restore democracy to the electoral system.

Second, voters must refrain from voting against and instead for the candidate. Voting with tact allows in candidates who aren’t worthy of public office.

Young people are an inaccessible resource of talent, so it is vital to give them the tools they need to succeed, including eliminating student debt that hinders growth.

This calls for the creation of a Department of Children and Youth to introduce trauma-informed learning as well as wrap-around services. They also provide restorative justice and conflict resolution, as well as mindfulness, and mental health services in schools.

The elected officials must be thoroughly scrutinized and accountable for their actions. they do, remembering always that they serve the people , not for themselves.

PS. I am indebted to Marianne Williamson, former Democratic Presidential candidate,
for some of the ideas outlined in this article.
